The Portfolio

As many of our volunteers are currently applying to further education providers and employment, we pride ourselves on the enriching impact this project has on each volunteer’s portfolio and personal statement. For some, the experience has shaped their future career.

Ellen, a previous volunteer, said:”M10 enabled me to turn my passion into a reality by helping people less fortunate than myself in Mexico. I have continued to follow this passion and after graduating from York University, I now work for Save the Children. My first ever volunteer experience has helped me secure the beginning of a lifelong dream.”

Each volunteer will produce a portfolio throughout the year. This is a record of learning and experience. Information and evidence can be gathered and then used to produce a well-presented portfolio. This can be used during interviews with universities and potential employers.

“As a College we support any opportunity for young people to further enhance their learning experiences. M10 Missions provide this opportunity of a lifetime…it will raise your awareness to the range of techniques, problems and rewards of fundraising using a range of shared strategies and methods.

I would encourage and support any young person to embrace new opportunities that develop them as young people and valuable community members. This experience will most certainly enhance your personal statement for applying for future study in further and higher education or employment”. Greg Smith (Vice-Principal, Newcastle College).
